Round Two - 14/17 April - Brands Hatch IndyMIXED FORTUNES FOR FPW RACING AT BRANDS HATCH INDYFPW Racing had a weekend of highs and lows at round two of the HEL Performance British Motostar Championship over the Easter bank holiday at the short 1.2 mile Brands Hatch Indy circuit. Storm Stacey secured a second successive podium in the opening race but suffered a crash whilst leading in the early stages of race two. Dutchman, Jorel Boerboom recovered well following a fall in free practice to claim two points scoring finishes. Practice got underway on the Friday with both riders settling in quickly completing the day inside the top ten. Storm consolidated his position during the second practice on Saturday ending up in fifth position, whilst Jorel was unfortunate to crash out at McLaren’s. Full of confidence from his successful start to the season at Donington Park, Storm qualified in the middle of row two, less than half a second from the pole position time. Jorel, a little down on confidence after his fall, qualified further down the grid for the opening race.Making a great start, Storm surged into the lead at the beginning of the 16 lap opening race, but by lap six had been shuffled back to sixth as the leading pack traded places at every opportunity. However, with two of the leaders colliding on lap 10, Storm fought hard to claim his second podium of the season after a battle with Richard Kerr during the closing stages before the Irishman slipped off with a couple of laps remaining. Jorel made good progress after his disappointing qualifying to finish in twelfth position. The second race was contested over 22 laps and Storm once again made a fantastic start from the second row to lead into the first corner at Paddock Hill, but whilst attempting to leap away from the chasing pack, crashed out unhurt, at high speed, ending his chances of further success. Jorel, getting his confidence back, fought hard in a close group to claim another points scoring finish in thirteenth position.Championship Points (after Round 2 - Brands Hatch Indy)3rd Storm Stacey (FPW Racing) 45 9th Jorel Boerboom (FPW Racing) 29The next round of the HEL Performance British Motostar Championship takes place at Oulton Park over the weekend of 29 April - 1 May.Photographs: Barry Clay Photography Report: FPW Racing
