The change in temperature played havoc with tyre choice at Snetterton for Mot Rapido Ducati.

Superbike:

Taylor was keen to get back on the bike after our test the week previously, we had some work to do though as the track conditions had changed a lot.

We needed to work on tyre life as Snetterton has been an issue for us in the past, we made sure Taylor was getting the laps and completing race simulations and were happy with the tyre wear in the 35 degree track temperature…..unfortunately on race day the temperature dropped 14 degrees and created an issue for us, Taylor had worked hard and Q1 we were 8th, going into Q2 and even faster still we qualified 16th on the grid with the top 16 only being separated by 0.9 of a second.

Taylor made good use of the safety car after an incident into turn two and got away with the front pack but gradually got taken by others while battling with the tyre issue to finish 11th.

Race 2 we started P8 and Taylor was keen to get ore points. the track temperature rose a little and our tyre choice remained the same as race one, Taylor had some good abttles but ran wide into urn two in the middle of the race and lost a few places leaving us with a 12th but more importantly, Points.

Taylor Mackenzie:

“It was a positive weekend all in all. I had my best qualifying for Race 2 in 8th place. And then 11th and 12th in the races are my best 2 finishes so far. No crashes this weekend and we’ve moved forward with everything. On to Knockhill, the next one. We’ve got a good test before that. So, keep on learning all the time and trying to take little steps at a time and hopefully we’ll get there.”

British Talent Cup-Moto3:

Thomas was fast from the start. Qualifying 3rd and even after a few cheeky, nail biting moves he finished 3rd. race 2 saw Thomas battle with the others from the front row but eventually he brought it home claiming 1st place.

He now comes back onto the standard Moto3 bike and joins us at Knockhill on the 8th July.

Tri-Options Ducati Cup:

Levi Day missed out again after being caught up in an accident in Qualifying leaving him with a fracture to his collar bone. championship standing, currently 9th place and now 85 points behind the leader.

He should be ready for the next race at Brands Hatch on the 22nd July.

Josh Wainwright started P7 for race one and ended in 6th place, race 2 he finished 5th ,his championship standing is currently 3rdplace and 37 points behind the leader.

Next week we have a test at Knockhill in Scotland and we have a few things to test on the newly laid surface.
