Solid results for FPW racing at Cadwell Park

FPW Racing had their hard work rewarded at the picturesque and iconic Lincolnshire circuit of Cadwell Park with both Jorel and Storm gaining results inside the top ten in both races. Jorel had his most consistent weekend for some time completing the races in ninth and eighth place respectively, and Storm backed up his impressive fifth position on the Saturday with a seventh place on Sunday. Following the previous round at Thruxton the team refreshed the engines in both bikes and completely rebuilt Jorel’s bike using the frame he rode in 2016, in an effort to help him regain his confidence. Friday’s free practice was used mainly to make set up refinements, Jorel finished the day fifteenth with Storm in sixth position. Qualifying was early on the Saturday morning and both riders put in a fine performance, Storm was holding a provisional front row position but narrowly got edged into fourth place in the final seconds, to find himself heading row two. Jorel improved on his time from the previous day by well over a second to line up on the fourth row of the grid in eleventh position for Saturday’s race. The opening lap of the 12 lap race was a good one for the FPW Racing riders, Storm circulating in third place with Jorel in eighth. Both riders were in closely contested groups with positions changing frequently, by lap eight Storm held sixth place with Jorel in tenth position. As the chequered flag waved Storm gained a position due to an unfortunate crash for Ed Rendell and finished a respectable fifth; Jorel was rewarded with ninth position showing an upturn in form as his confidence grows. Storm lined up in sixth position on the grid for Sunday’s 12 lap encounter, with Jorel once again starting from eleventh. The two immaculate FPW Racing Kalex KTM’s circulated together in a close pack for much of the race, Storm eventually taking seventh position slightly ahead of Jorel who gained eighth place by the narrowest of margins from Edmund Best at the chequered flag.
Jorel enjoyed his best points haul since the opening round at Donington Park back in April; both he and the team now look forward to a strong finish to the season especially since his home round in the Netherlands is just a matter of a few weeks away.
Storm remains in third position in the Championship with a 21 point advantage over Eugene McManus, his consistency proving valuable having finished all but one of the 15 races to date. The team wishes him well as he takes part in the selection process for the British Talent Cup at Silverstone later this week.
