SR75 Suzuki sign off at Yaonne SX

The Yonne Supercross last Saturday night brought the curtain down on SR75 Suzuki’s incredible summer tour with both Cyrille Coulon and Thomas Ramette continuing their brilliant form against one of the toughest line-ups ever assembled in French and continental SX. The guys have battled every week with incredible focus and the MC Brienon-organised event in front of 12,000 screaming fans was a fitting end to the team’s summer racing activities. Thomas and Cyrille qualified brilliantly with a fantastic 1-2 with both riders looking super-smooth on their Suzuki RM-Z450 race bikes which performed flawlessly. Thomas’ heat race went to plan and he displayed perfect poise as he took victory. Cyrille looked very strong in his heat and after an average start he was soon chasing Fabien Izoird for the lead. Looking for line changes to make the decisive pass, a small mistake saw him slip off and drop a couple of places but he still progressed safely to the semis where Thomas and Cyrille didn’t put a wheel wrong as they came home 1-2 with a show of power and style. The guys took their worst starts of the night in the Main Event to run 8-10 and on a drying track it was always going to take heroic rides to make the podium. While both pushed hard in the early laps and strung together a series of passes, at the front Izoird started to pull clear chased by Flo Richier and Nico Aubin. Thomas, however, was laying down some super-quick laps and finding new lines as he battled his way into third. Cyrille was also putting on a show of strength to move into the top five as he and Cedric Soubeyras raced forwards. Going into the final lap Izoird, Aubin, Thomas, Soubeyras and Cyrille were only covered by a few seconds as the crowd went wild. This order would remain the same to the chequers with just four seconds covering the top five. With two Pro series contested and two championship wins, Thomas has had a stellar season.

Geoff Walker (Team Principal) “As a team we cannot thank everyone involved in what we do enough – 2017 has been amazing in so many ways with two out of two Pro championship titles. This is a team effort that has been built on the solid foundations of passion and hard work. “Thomas is a brilliant and worthy champion and he has coped with extreme pressure to deliver both the SX Tour and AXUK championships after people outside our team had written him off. To see this young man realise his dreams in France, the UK and the USA over the past three years has been an honour and a pleasure every step of the way. “Cyrille has once again been absolutely amazing with his usual mix of total brilliance and supreme professionalism coupled with some bad luck. “We thank all our team partners – not only now but in the past – who have helped us achieve the unbelievable successes we have in the last five years. “Seven Pro titles in five years for SR75 World Team! We may be a little bit different but we love what we do and like to think that we do it well. “Here’s to an awesome ‘indoor season’ beginning in Montpellier on October 6. Good times…”
