Team Green Motocross making progress!

Races have come thick and fast, we’ve been making progress.

Lewis Hall has been steadily improving in his first year in the Pro ranks and has learned so much, particularly from the three EMX250 rounds he took on. He didn’t qualify for the main races but at 15 years of age the experience will be invaluable when we take him to the entire EMX250 championship in 2019. Lewis is going to ride two more EMX250 races this year (Lommel and Assen) and hopefully we’ll have a stronger bike for him at those rounds with a few more mods. He is now ready for a faster bike, in fact, it’s a matter of necessity.

Youth 250F rider Kacey Hird took his first race wins and an overall victory this weekend at round 5 of the Michelin MX Nationals after more than a year following his serious knee injury at the beginning of 2017. It’s been a long road back for Kacey, not only with gathering race fitness but more importantly, confidence. He’s now turned the corner and not riding with that little bit of fear of hurting himself again as this weekend showed. Now he needs to build on it and continue to work hard on getting fitter and carry momentum for the rest of the year and into the off season to be strong and fit on his second year on a KX250.

Our KX85 programme has also been steadily improving. Realistically for the first time in our current five year programme/plan we went into a race season knowing a championship win as going to be harder than ever…and we’ve got used to winning! We took on two riders in Ben Mustoe and Raife Broadly who were both stepping up a class onto bigger bikes and are both are small kids, but they’re gritty and determined and have great potential to win championships going forward. Ben currently lies 3rd in the ACU British Youth championship in the small wheeled 85cc class, while Raife lies in 8th in the big wheeled class. In the Michelin MX Nationals championship Ben lies in 6th in his class while Raife lies in 11th after a couple of unfortunate races and crashes. All part of the learning curve to make him stronger.

The Team Green Academy KX85 riders of Harrison Greenough and Hudson Roper are also coming along nicely and lie 8th and 9th in the Michelin MX Nationals championship respectively.

We have three domestic UK championship races left for the 85cc riders, while Lewis and Kacey have a few more Maxxis British championship rounds, which wrap up at Foxhill on September 23rd.

Next up is the Thor ride day on Tuesday 24th and then on to Duns, Scotland for round 6 of the Maxxis British championship, where Lewis and Kacey will be racing.
